The Study's Main Findings
According to the newly published research, people who received the COVID-19 vaccine were about 55% less likely to be hospitalized due to COVID-19 compared to those who were unvaccinated.
The study also found that vaccination reduced COVID-related visits to emergency departments and urgent care clinics by roughly 50%.
While those numbers may not seem dramatic compared to the exceptionally high effectiveness rates reported during the early stages of vaccine rollout, health experts point out that the virus has changed significantly over time. New variants, widespread prior infections, and evolving immunity levels have all made measuring vaccine effectiveness more complex.
