Existing Wildfires Continue to Grow
Several major wildfires are already burning across the western U.S., stretching firefighting resources.
Among the largest fires currently burning:
Cottonwood Fire (Utah)
The Cottonwood Fire has grown to more than 71,000 acres, making it one of the largest wildfires in Utah this year. Officials report that the blaze remains 0% contained, with firefighters facing difficult conditions due to strong winds and dry fuels.
Iron Fire
The Iron Fire has scorched over 40,000 acres and has reached approximately 38% containment, although weather conditions may continue to challenge firefighting efforts.
Cherry Fire Complex
The Cherry Fire, formed after the merger of the Maple Peak Fire and the original Cherry Fire, has burned roughly 20,000 acres and remains uncontained.
